 Portland -- Sierra Club Maine has announced its endorsement of Rep. Justin Chenette, Saco, for the District 31 in the Maine State Senate Primary race. “The Sierra Club Maine endorses Justin Chenette for State Senate because he is an environmental champion," says Claudia King, Sierra Club Maine Political Chair. "Justin has fought to preserve our natural resources based economy, voting to protect our lakes, standing up for investments in renewable energy like solar power, and providing leadership on addressing climate change. He is the best candidate to protect our environment while helping to build a clean energy future for our state.” The Sierra Club endorses candidates who have demonstrated their commitment to the environment and who have potential to serve as strong leaders in Augusta. “With so many vital issues facing Maine policy makers, the election of strong leaders has never has never been more important,” said Glen Brand, local chapter director. “We are 100% committed to securing a strong pro-environment majority in both the House and Senate for 2017-18.” The Primary Election is Tuesday June 14th.
