AUGUSTA — Sen. Justin Chenette, D-Saco, has been appointed to the National Conference on State Legislatures’ (NCSL) Budgets and Revenue Committee.
The appointment was made by the President of the Senate. Sen. Chenette will serve as a representative from the Maine Senate.
“As a member of the Taxation Committee and a passionate advocate for accountable government, I am thrilled to be picked to represent the Maine Senate on this committee,” said Sen. Chenette. “I look forward to engaging in national discussion on these issues.”
Sen. Chenette is the youngest member of the Maine Senate and currently serves on the Legislature's Taxation Committee.
The Budgets and Revenue Committee is one of nine standing committees of the NCSL and is responsible for protecting state interests in federal decisions regarding fiscal matters, including annual action on the federal budget. The committee examines funding for services and programs, budget processes, tax and revenue systems, legislative oversight, unfunded mandates, and state-local fiscal relations.
NCSL is a national organization that serves the interests of state legislatures by providing states support, ideas, and connections for policy and effectiveness.
