AUGUSTA — Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, has appointed Sen. Chenette, D-Saco, to serve on the Citizen Trade Policy Commission. The Citizen Trade Policy Commission (CTPC) is a government agency that was established to study the legal and economic impacts of trade agreements on existing laws, working conditions and businesses in Maine. The CTPC holds meetings throughout the state to provide a forum for citizens and business owners to voice their concerns and to protect Maine’s jobs from the negative impact of trade agreements. “In this role, I hope to continue efforts to provide a platform for citizen engagement and business feedback over the detrimental activities of the Trump Administration’s escalating trade wars,” said Sen. Chenette. “Hearing from people first hand will give us some insight on how to push back and protect Maine’s economic interests.” This group of commissioners is composed of members of the public, small business representatives, legislators, small farmers and nonprofit organizations.
