Sen. Valentino and Rep. Chenette will be speaking on the need to increase transparency and accountability in Maine elections through Question 1 referendum
SACO, MAINE – State Legislators, Sen. Linda Valentino and Rep. Justin Chenette, representing Saco, Old Orchard Beach and surrounding communities, will host a forum aimed at educating the public about getting money out of politics.
Joining the legislators will be Andrew Bossie, Executive Director of Maine Citizens for Clean Elections Action to talk about the upcoming referendum. MCCE Action is a 501(c)4 nonpartisan organization that works in the public interest to advocate for, increase public support for, defend and improve the Maine Clean Election Act and related campaign finance law.
Both Valentino and Chenette have been heavily involved in campaign finance reform efforts in the legislature, even working this past session to pass a comprehensive campaign finance bill that bars clean elections candidates from operating political action committees.
The forum will taking place Wednesday Oct. 14 at 6:30 held at the Saco Train Station. The event is free and open to the public.
